Protect Our Parks
April 23 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Save Our Parks And Rangers – Castillo de San Marco
Come out to support our rangers and national parks. We will gather at 11:00AM in front of Castillo de San Marcos, National Monument (Park): First Amendment Area #1 – West Green exterior grounds (see image of map for location) to exercise our First Amendment rights in a sign waving public assembly to protest layoffs of federal land management staff, funding freezes, and rollbacks on equity and environmental justice initiatives.
Our rangers and national parks are being affected by DOGE cuts, which means public lands can’t be maintained, and restrooms can’t be cleaned. This can lead to reduced hours of operation and closures. Be creative and let’s keep our message positive. Please avoid any name-calling, obscenities and profuse language on signs.
The address is: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, 1 South Castillo Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32084
Participants can park across the street at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility located at: 1 Cordova St, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Information and cost of parking can be found at: https://www.citystaug.com/502/Historic-Downtown-Parking-Facility
Dress according to the weather. Bring water, sunscreen, and your signs. We will have some extra signs available for those who need one.
This event is family friendly. No pets please. Spread the word. Let’s join together and express our First Amendment rights by defending access and conservation. Public lands belong to all of us, and they are currently under attack! We must demand action from Congress to #ProtectPublicLands and #StopTheCuts
