Gov. DeSantis and his allies in the Florida Legislature are trying to take away Citizen led Amendments in FL via SB 7016: Initiative Petitions Proposing an Amendment to the State Constitution. Thanks to citizen-led amendments to the state Constitution, Florida voters have raised the minimum wage, enacted term limits for politicians, protected environmental treasures, legalized medical marijuana, established a taxpayer bill of rights, created universal voluntary pre-kindergarten for children, and passed many other reforms when politicians in Tallahassee have refused to act.
But Gov. DeSantis and out-of-touch politicians in Tallahassee want to make it nearly impossible for citizens to get future initiatives on the ballot.
Two actions:
1. Sign the Petition Below

As a registered Florida voter, I strongly urge you to vote NO on bills that further restrict the ability of Floridians to participate in the citizen-led amendment process.
Thanks to citizen-led amendments, Florida voters have enacted term limits, protected environmental treasures, established a taxpayer bill of rights, created universal voluntary pre-kindergarten for children, and other popular amendments to our state constitution.
However, legislation currently under consideration are brazen attempts to take power from your constituents and undermine direct democracy. The citizen-led amendment process in Florida is already the strictest in the nation, requiring nearly one million signatures to get on the ballot and 60% support from voters to pass. We should be doing all we can to strengthen this process, not challenging everyday Floridians’ power to bring change to their communities.
Please stand with the people of Florida by opposing this legislation. Thank you.
