Florida’s SB 7016 passed the house, and is NOW IN THE SENATE!  SB 7016 creates a slew of obstacles to essentially deny citizen led amendments from going on the ballots in FL. We need everyone to help make phone calls and email their reps and tell them to vote NO on SB 7016. You can call multiple times. Please spread the word on Social, NextDoor, anywhere you can. This affects everyone in FL.

Please email and call your Florida senators and tell them to vote NO on Senate Bill 7016.  SB 7016 has been scheduled for the FL Senate Fiscal Policy Committee.

Call / Email Script: Oppose SB 7016– Attacks Citizen Ballot Access

Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City or ZIP Code].

I’m calling to urge you to oppose SB 7016. This bill makes it much harder for everyday Floridians to participate in our democracy by limiting the time to collect petitions for citizen-initiated constitutional amendments and imposing steep fines for late submissions.

Floridians have used the citizen initiative process to enact meaningful reforms when lawmakers wouldn’t act — from protecting water to raising the minimum wage. HB 1205 undermines that constitutional right and silences voters’ voices. Please vote NO on SB 7016 and protect the people’s right to direct democracy.

Subject: Oppose HB 5101 and SB 2510 – Protect Our Students’ Futures

Dear [Senator/Representative] [Last Name],

I am writing as a constituent from St Johns County to express my strong opposition to HB 5101 and SB 2510. These bills propose significant funding cuts to essential educational programs, including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), Dual Enrollment, and Career & Professional Education (CAPE).

These programs are vital for our students’ academic and professional development, offering opportunities to earn college credits, secure scholarships, and gain real-world experience. Reducing funding by 50% would severely limit these opportunities, disproportionately affecting students who rely on public education to advance their futures.

As an engaged member of our community, I urge you to vote against HB 5101 and SB 2510 to ensure that our students continue to have access to these critical programs.

Thank you for considering my perspective. I look forward to your response on this important matter.

Sincerely,

[Your Full Name]
