We’re looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning!
📍 Location: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument
🕚 Time: 11 AM – 1 PM. There will be approximately 1 hour of speaking. Speakers start around 11:15. After the speakers we will march along the bay front down to the bridge of lions and back. Attendees may march or stay and Hold the Fort!
🚗 Expect heavy traffic on San Marco Ave — lots of good spots for sign-waving!
🅿️ Parking: There is limited paid parking at the fort — it will likely fill before 10 AM. We recommend using the city parking garage at 1 Cordova St — it’s just a short walk away and has plenty of space.
🎗️ Bring: water, sunblock, bug spray, a hat, a chair/blanket if needed, and signs! We’ll also have a sign-making contest for the most original one!
✌️ Reminder: This is a Peaceful Protest! We have a permit issued by the National Park Service and have notified St. Augustine Police. Do not engage with agitators — no talking, no responding, no touching. Just walk away. Look for our yellow-vested safety volunteers if you need help. We’re here to keep everyone safe. Do not block sidewalks or streets. We expect a few counter-protesters. They are allowed on NPS property and will be directed to a separate designated First Amendment Area to exercise their First Amendment rights. The NPS will oversee and manage the time, place, and manner of these activities in accordance with the permit, adjusting in real time based on prevailing conditions.
🚻 Bathrooms: Across the street behind the Pirate Museum: 42 1/2 St George St, St. Augustine, FL 32084 Restrooms are also located at the Visitor Information Center adjacent to the parking garage.
♻️ Please help us leave the area cleaner than we found it. See you Saturday — let’s make some noise (peacefully) ! Have some fun! As John Lewis said, lets make GOOD Trouble. In Solidarity — Indivisible St. Johns County
📢 Bullhorns: They may be used at the Fort, but please be respectful, and you may not interfere with park officials. Amplified sound may NOT be used during the march.
🦺 Important Safety Information Provided by the National Park Service
The designated First Amendment area for Individual St. Johns County on 5/3/2025 is the west green (FA Area-1) shown in yellow on the map below.
All persons, regardless of group size, who wish to exercise their First Amendment (FA) rights on NPS-administered lands at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument or Fort Matanzas National Monument must conduct their demonstration within a designated First Amendment area. This National Park Service (NPS) regulation will be strictly enforced (36 CFR 2.51). The strip of grass adjacent to S. Castillo Drive and the public sidewalk, both under the jurisdiction of the NPS, are not designated First Amendment areas. Additionally, persons standing close to traffic present significant safety concerns. All First Amendment activities must occur exclusively in areas explicitly approved and designated by the Superintendent.
All signs must be free standing. No tying, taping, stapling, staking anything to park property including signs, posts, fences, trees, etc. Nothing may be staked into the ground. All signage must be collected and removed at the conclusion of the permit.
No interference with pedestrian traffic and no blocking of entrances, sidewalks, or driveways are allowed. No impediment to or disruption of vehicular traffic is permitted. All areas are to remain open to the public at all times unless approved on site by the NPS and/or other agencies with jurisdiction on site. Access for other park visitors and emergency vehicles must not be impeded. You shall not, under any condition, block a common pathway, nor may your event straddle a common pathway, unless specifically approved by NPS staff on site.

✊ In solidarity,
Indivisible St. Johns County
